2024 BC Christian Ashram retreat: Give Us Our Daily Bread
The theme of the weekend is Give Us Our Daily Bread. The hybrid retreat, held at CLA (Christian Life Assembly, Langley) and online, is on Friday July 5th to Saturday July 6th, 2024 (no overnight stay).

MEDAD JOSEPH BIRUNGI ZINOMUHANGI was born in South Western Uganda. He has been married to Constance Joly Kobusigye Birungi for 32 years. They are blessed with five children: Barnabas, Joel, Festo, Esther, and Jabez Jonathan. Medad & Connie have two daughter-laws and two grandchildren.
He became involved in the Anglican Church in 1972, and was born again on April 2nd 1982 in the East African revival. He was commissioned a Lay Evangelist by Life Ministry in 1987, African Evangelistic Enterprise in 2003, ordained in 2004 and priested in the diocese of Kampala in 2005.
Medad is currently the Executive President and Founder of World Shine Ministries, an interdenominational ministry that reaches, raises and releases people into their destiny to influence nations for Christ. It engages in evangelism, discipleship, healing, and intercession in Uganda and beyond. He oversees a school/orphanage World Shine Foundation School with 720 children, and St Catherine School Kashumuruzi with 150 children in south western Uganda.
Medad is an international speaker and a scholar. He has a PhD in Leadership Ethics from Makerere University Kampala Uganda, Master of Theology from Brunel University London UK, a Postgraduate Diploma in Christian Ministry from Uganda Christian University, and a Bachelor of Arts with Education from Makerere University.
Medad has a powerful testimony on how he grew up in a very abusive home, then was abandoned. and how he forgave all his enemies. God lifted him from “the dustbin to a professor”.
Medad has strong connections with the Church all over the world, especially in the United Kingdom, Africa, Finland, USA and Canada. He has a big burden for revival, renewal, healing, and preparing the next generation. His message is love, hope, forgiveness and reconciliation for the dying world. Medad’s vision is to reach 50 cities in Uganda, Africa, America, Europe and Asia. He is the author of five books, including Tombstone and Banana Trees.
Medad has been a Christian leader in all schools he attended, he has worked full time with Scripture Union of Uganda, Bible Society of Uganda, and with the Anglican Church of Uganda as a youth coordinator diocese of Kigezi, Kihanga Archdeaconry, Coordinator of Kigezi Anglican Youth Missioner (Youth Revival movement), Education Coordinator diocese of Kigezi. Chaplain Kyambogo University, Director of Mission and Evangelism Diocese of Kampala and a pastor of Nsambya Parish.
The Rev. Dr. Ken Deeks is the Rector, Church of the Ascension, Langley, BC, and the Principal, Packer College, St. John’s, NFL
Ken has been engaged in a ministry of preaching, teaching, and disciple-making since 1985, first as a Pentecostal pastor, and since 2007 as a deacon and priest in the Anglican Network in Canada. He spent 19 of his 36 years of ministry as the dean of an undergraduate theological college of 300 students. In 2019 he was appointed rector of Church of the Ascension in Langley, and as principal of Packer College in 2022.
