2024 BC Christian Ashram retreat: Give Us Our Daily Bread
The theme of the weekend is Give Us Our Daily Bread. The hybrid retreat, held at CLA (Christian Life Assembly, Langley) and online, is on Friday July 5th to Saturday July 6th, 2024 (no overnight stay).

Mike Schroeder grew up in a Christian home where he learned to love the Lord, love his family and love the church.
He was called to Christian ministry at the age of 16, and soon after began preaching as a high school student in rural churches in the prairies of northern Minnesota.
He met his wife, Ev, in Bible College, and together they have been pastoring for over 45 years. He, along with Ev have Pastored in Winnipeg, White Rock, Maple Ridge, and now for the last 14 years back in White Rock. He has ministered in Japan, Korea, Mexico, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
He has served on various Boards of Directors of Christian ministries including South Fraser Pregnancy Options Centre, a Christian Recovery House, Neighbourlink, and 2 Christian schools. During a brief break from pastoring, he also served full-time for 2 years at a homeless shelter as a Client Advocate.
A strong proponent of the church of the city, he has chaired ministerial associations and is still a regular participant in the Peninsula Pastors Network in South Surrey/White Rock.
Mike & Ev have 3 grown children and four grandchildren, all living in the Lower Fraser Valley of British Columbia.
The Rev. Dr. Ken Deeks is the Rector, Church of the Ascension, Langley, BC, and the Principal, Packer College, St. John’s, NFL
Ken has been engaged in a ministry of preaching, teaching, and disciple-making since 1985, first as a Pentecostal pastor, and since 2007 as a deacon and priest in the Anglican Network in Canada. He spent 19 of his 36 years of ministry as the dean of an undergraduate theological college of 300 students. In 2019 he was appointed rector of Church of the Ascension in Langley, and as principal of Packer College in 2022.
